Slave
So many words of wisdom have been written, spoken, sung.
So many lives have been sacrificed in 'fighting for peace'.
And the stories and the songs
fell on the stony ground;
For every soul that wakens there's a million sleepers want to keep him down...
Wake up you sleeping slaves,
Oh, wake up and step out of your chains!
Wake up you sleeping slaves,
Oh, wake up and step out of your chains!
This is a call to all mothers -
Your children are broken and soiled.
This is a call to all fathers -
They're breaking your back with their toil.
Don't you worry, I'm not singing this to you, no.
And there is absolutely nothing you should change or stop or do.
As the oceans die and plastic fills your veins, never fear;
You've got your Big TV, your mp3s, your SUV and NOBODY will ever scream these words into your face:
Wake up you sleeping slave,
Oh, wake up and step out of your chains!
Wake up you sleeping slave,
Oh, wake up and step out of your chains!
This is a call to all mothers -
Your children they weep for the earth.
This is a call to all fathers -
When will you show them you've heard?
It's time to chose a life of truth and justice and love,
Nevermore a sheep, afraid and being fleeced by those above.
Awaken from the dream and stop the serpent in his tracks;
Remember who I Am and Why I'm Here
And finally start to take the power back.
Wake up you sleeping slaves,
Oh, wake up and step out of your chains!
Wake up you sleeping slaves,
Oh, wake up and step out of your chains!
This is a call to all brothers -
The time for denial is past.
This is a call to all sisters -
United we must stand at last!
I said to Life, oh PLEASE, let this cup pass!
The answer came "Not my will but thine be done",
And I began to sing and laugh...
